Wilderness Lake Chalet is conveniently located near numerous unique attractions in one of the most beautiful areas of West Virginia. Summersville Lake, West Virginia’s largest lake, and the Gauley River National Recreation Area are about a half-mile away.
Summersville Lake has over 28,000 acres of water and 60 miles of shoreline. There is boating, water-skiing, swimming, fishing for large- and smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, and catfish, (trout are stocked below the dam in the spring and fall) scuba diving, picnicking, hunting, and biking are the favorite activities enjoyed by many visitors.
The Gauley River National Recreation Area is managed by New River Gorge National River. It is a great place to take a hike, view Summersville Lake, have a picnic, play volleyball or simply sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Also minutes away are the New River Gorge, Babock State Park, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park and Summit Bechtel Reserve, site of the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree.
